The Position: Reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for Effective Teaching and Learning (CETL), the incumbent advocates for and helps coordinate high-level teaching initiatives as these drive CETL programming and faculty services. The Associate Director assists in growing CETL’s programming, including managing grants support, working with the Associate Director of Educational Technology to coordinate the Online Course Development Program (OCDP), and building and delivering a peer coaching network. The incumbent will assist with the future direction, planning, design, and delivery of CETL’s faculty development workshops and programs, including New Faculty Orientation. The incumbent also helps prepare courses for campus’ quality course design reviews. The incumbent provides faculty support and advocates for the adoption of inclusive pedagogical strategies that promote diverse students’ success across different instructional modalities. The Associate Director will stay current in higher education trends and research and synthesize this knowledge into innovative professional development opportunities for our faculty. The incumbent will be proficient in inclusive multi-modal pedagogy (online, hybrid, face to face), and will work with faculty, departments, and colleges to meet their pedagogical needs. The Associate Director helps to scale campus online/hybrid courses and programs, ensuring any newly developed courses meet campus and CSU policies, accessibility regulations, and relevant accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience: An earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited college, school, or university; five years of experience teaching in a post-secondary college setting, preferably an HSI serving diverse students; demonstrated experience designing online courses using Canvas or other LMS; verified background and achievements in a discipline within the university that would qualify the candidate as a tenured faculty member; dedicated commitment to culturally relevant and inclusive pedagogy that serves our first-generation students; and strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to complete an assessment.

California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. Desired Qualifications: Strong record of teaching and scholarship that would merit tenure in a department at Cal State LA; project management experience; leadership experience or experience managing people; demonstrated experience as an expert college teacher; demonstrated knowledge of course alignment using program assessment for quality control, such as Quality Matters; knowledge of the growing field of educational development and the learning sciences (e.g., UDL, instructional design models, the effects of technology on learning); and experience designing educational development for faculty (peer learning) is preferred.

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $4,583 – $14,713/monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
