POSITION TITLE: Branch Fabrication & Training Manager

LOCATION OF EMPLOYMENT: 13833 N. Promenade Blvd., Stafford Texas 77477 and travel to Fabrication facilities in Justin and Denton Texas
POSITION DUTIES: This position will manage multiple value streams supporting manufacturing goals and lean strategies focusing on improving our fabrication operations. Position will develop and implement training programs and systems to ensure the highest level of safety, quality and productivity as well as Engineering skills to support project teams in planning major and complex piping systems projects by roll grooving or cut grooving of different materials.
Specific duties include:
- Coach, direct, and promote a culture of continuous improvement utilizing Lean principles (Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Workflow, Baseline, Line/Cell Design, Set-Up Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, Pull Kanban, Root Cause Problem Solving, etc.) driving continuous improvement.
- Plan for current/future direct and remote workforce demand based on sales annually projection.
- Assist with development and monitoring of all aspects of production. This includes selection of manufacturing methods, design, and fabrication of tooling, as well as, fixturing, and review of functional test procedures and testing methods
- Assist teams when necessary in preparing engineering documentation including CAD models, drawings, schematics, and detailed procedures
- Advise teams regarding system component requirements or direct modification of existing products/equipment to ensure conformance with engineering design intent and performance specifications
- Support project teams in planning a major and complex piping systems made of Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel (Bare and/or special coatings), Copper, HDPE, CPVC, Ductile Iron (Bare and/or special coatings) and other materials within our project delivery framework utilizing our shop floor system and data, Mendix software.
- Provide troubleshooting of our shop floor system, understanding current system algorithm and assist with its continuous improvement based of manufacturing, training, and scheduling needs
- Through regular contact with North America Fabrication Manager and Director of Fabrication, participate in planning and/or decision making in matters concerning operational problems, inventory control, plant policy, maintenance issues, and workforce
- Provides manufacturing information by compiling, analyzing and production performance records and data to include quarterly variance reports. Additional reporting will include downtime/QCPCs/production efficiency/safety
- Optimize the performance of existing manufacturing processes and provide support as needed for the development of new manufacturing processes, material, and equipment capabilities
- Develop and implement KPI’s tied to the P&L to drive measurable results
- Provide leadership, support, commitment and guidance on Quality and Safety issues
- Ensure direct and remote facilities comply for internal safety and general audits
- Collaborates with EH&S department to develop a Behavior Based Safety program to evaluate risk behaviors, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments
- Lead initiatives to support innovation and continuous improvement activities, including digital solutions to achieve learning objectives
- Create and manage a systematic training program to allow and trace current skill level of direct and remote fabrication technicians. Therefore, opportunities of specific tutoring can be addressed
- Maintain updated curriculum and training records by optimizing functionality within our Learning Management System and in accordance with company-level process
- Ensure Victaulic fabrication processes and procedures are applied, as well as followed by all US Fabrication locations
. Supervises 7-10 technicians
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Qualified applicants must have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years if Engineering experience in the mechanical pipe joining industry.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Qualified applicants must have experience designing with 3D CAD tools, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD are desirable. Understanding of mechanical pipe joining by roll-grooving or cut-grooving techniques of different materials as well as ability to troubleshoot equipment. Experience with lean tools, such as: Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Workflow, Baseline, Line/Cell Design, Set-Up Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, Pull Kanban, Root Cause Problem Solving, etc. Experience in working in an ISO 9000 environment. Knowledge of OSHA requirements. Must be willing to travel 50% of the time
