Job title: Homebound Tutor

Summary
The Homebound Services program provides tutoring for students whose classroom activities have been disrupted by a medical condition.
Homebound services are provided to a student when a licensed medical physician determines that the student will be out of school due to a medical condition for a minimum of two consecutive weeks or more or on an ongoing intermittent basis, with the expectation to equal or exceed 10 school days during one school year.
Homebound services provide instruction at home by an Illinois certified licensed teacher. The goal of Homebound Services is to afford the student learning opportunities at the same grade level and is designed to prepare the student to return to the classroom upon recovery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to work flexible hours Monday-Friday when school is in session.
- Travel to students’ homes.
- Coordinate and collaborate with students and parents to schedule sessions.
- Collaborate with colleagues regarding student assignments.
- Teach prescribed academic coursework in students home when a parent or caretaker is present.
- Communicate with students teachers about progress and/or assignment completion.
- Maintain accurate records on students progress.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE
- Valid Professional Educators Teaching License with endorsements in: LBSI(If Assignment Requires It)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be able to perform all of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both orally and in writing, in English.
- Has flexibility in working with students who have medical issues.
REPORTS TO: Special Education Director
WORK YEAR
- Works within student attendance days for the school year.
