Responsibilities
Sargent & Lundys Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories. Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites. What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our countrys nuclear deterrent. Sargent & Lundys personnel design facilities, systems, and equipment that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste as well as systems that safely handle and process nuclear material. This mission-critical work is meaningful and challenging work you can be proud of.
WORK LOCATION: This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent on site and working remote from home.
Our Government Services Group, one of our five (5) market focused business units, has opportunities for engineering professionals in our specialty design and engineering group. This group specializes in the design of special purpose gloveboxes and the associated controls and auxiliary systems, precision furnaces, hot cells, custom pressure vessels and other one of a kind equipment.
- Lead HVAC design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team
- Projects include both commercial, industrial and nuclear ventilation applications
- Responsible for production of engineering calculations/analyses, design drawings and engineering reports
- Apply HVAC engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components
- Produce design drawings, civil calculations, procurement specifications and construction specifications (HVAC related sections)
- Attend project meetings and perform field walkdowns
- Mentor junior engineers
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
- BSME from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
- PE License
- Experience in detailed design, preparing design drawings, engineering analyses and calculations, and construction, fabrication and procurement specifications
- Twenty or more years of working in a project team environment in the design of industrial projects
- Experience with Department of Energy sites and facilities, and nuclear applications
- Must have relevant experience with Department of Energy and/or Nuclear Power Generation related ventilation systems
- Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance
- Requires periodic travel to Albuquerque and project locations for client meetings, walk-downs and presentations; Amount of travel will vary depending on individual projects, but will likely averages of 3-5 days per month
Salary Range
$137,000 – $163,000
