Position Summary: The Hydrodynamics team in Drive and Propulsion Engineering Department at Mercury Marine is seeking a Propeller Design Engineer to design and develop propellers for Mercury Outboards, Mercruiser Sterndrive engines, and Mercury high-speed diesel marine engines. The candidate would be responsible for propeller design and development, updating design methodology as well as creating and integrating design tools. Creative and ambitious candidates with a passion for boating and propulsion are encouraged to apply. Roles and Responsibilities: Design and develop propeller geometry Acquire prototype hardware Develop test procedures to evaluate propeller performance/durability Evaluate propeller performance/durability Predict and correlate vessel performance characteristics Create technical reports of design and test results Develop design standards to guide future project work Required Qualifications: Minimum B.S Degree in Naval Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Experience in mechanical engineering, fluid mechanics and computational science Strong verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of at least one popular programming language (EX: Python, C++, MATLAB, FORTRAN, etc.) Preferred Qualifications: M.S. Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field Engineering experience working with propeller design or similar applications Strong knowledge in flows around hydrofoils, knowledge of propeller theory (lifting line method, panel method, etc.) Experience with computational fluid mechanics (Ansys-Fluent, STAR-CCM+) Next is Now!
