Travis County currently runs on-premises SAP ERP for most financial, procurement and human resources processes. Over the next few years, the County plans to migrate these operations to the next generation of SAP applications and technology platform. The County is seeking an experienced SAP Technical Lead to lead this initiative by proactively guiding the County through this transformation.
The SAP Technical Lead works with a cross functional team of analysts to develop architecture and drive business transformation while accounting for emerging technologies and organizational readiness. The SAP Technical Lead is responsible to lead the delivery of SAP technology solutions used for end-to-end business processes based on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) including but not limited to Integration Suite, Build Work Zone, Analytics Cloud, UI5/Fiori and Identity Services.

This full-time position is part of the SAP Support Team within the County Auditor’s Office. Travis County is a $1 billion local government organization with approximately 6,000 employees. Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads the analysis of business’ future-state capabilities and environment to determine their potential impact on the County’s SAP environment and recommends technology solutions.
- Partners with functional and technical team to design and orchestrate the delivery of new business enabling systems and processes using the next generation SAP technology platform.
- Leads technical implementation of future-state environment.
- Develops a scalable, integrated, and secure architecture for end-to-end business processes based on SAP applications like Ariba, S/4HANA, SuccessFactors, OpenText and SAP Analytics Cloud to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the County.
- Leads assessment of the SAP environment and recommends solutions for improvement based on best practices.
- Identifies organizational requirements for the resources and cultural changes necessary to support the SAP environment.
- Assists in the development of implementation plan for technology driven projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field.
- 9+ years of relevant experience; master’s degree and/or certification in a related field may equate to two years of professional experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on SAP technical administrator and architect experience including at least two years of working on Business Technology Platform.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure.
- At least 2 years of team or technical project lead experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven leader with advanced experience in technical architecture, application development, middleware, security administration or database management in a SAP environment.
- Knowledge and experience with emerging SAP technologies and key tools in their domain.
- Solid grasp of SAP cloud application architecture, concepts, terminology, and user experience design.
- Hands-on experience working on various areas of SAP Business Technology Platform which includes integration, user experience, security, and application development.
- Well versed in data migration and archiving strategies preferably for an SAP ERP to S/4HANA migration.
- Superb problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage numerous tasks concurrently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Holidays
An average of eleven paid holidays are designated by the Travis County Commissioners Court at the beginning of each fiscal year.
Longevity
Longevity pay is paid for each year completed after three years of continuous service. Peace Officers in a law enforcement activity, whose job requires state peace officer certification, receive pay after one year of certification.
Parking
A limited number of assigned parking spaces are available to employees in the Courthouse Complex.
Personal Holidays
Regular, full-time employees are eligible for up to three paid personal holidays each calendar year. Part-time employees shall be granted personal holidays on a prorated basis. New employees earn personal holidays for the calendar year in which he/she begins employment, based on the month in which employment begins:
January – March

New employees are eligible to take personal holidays after 90 days of employment.
Retirement
Travis County is a member of the Texas County & District Retirement System with mandatory participation by certain classes of employees. Matching of two hundred twenty-five (225%) and a seven percent (7%) of the gross salary is deducted each pay period. An employee is fully vested after eight years of service. Benefits are prorated for part-time employees.
Sick Leave
Regular employees earn sick leave at a rate of eight hours per month with unlimited accrual during employment. Part-time employees earn sick leave on a pro-rated basis.
Parental Leave
Each Full-time Paid Parental Leave Eligible (PPL) Employee is entitled to a total of 320 hours of Paid Parental Leave in a 12 month period. Paid Parental Leave for Part-time PPL Eligible Employees is prorated based on the number of hours that they are regularly scheduled to work.
Tuition Refund
Certain classes of full-time employees may receive reimbursement for fees associated with pre-approved, job related course work completed satisfactorily.
Vacation
Based on years of county service, regular, full-time employees earn vacation time at the following rates:
0 to 5 years
4.0 hours per pay period
6 to 10 years
4.5 hours per pay period
11 to 15 years
5.0 hours per pay period
16 to 20 years
5.5 hours per pay period
21 plus years
6.0 hours per pay period
Part-time employees earn vacation leave on a pro-rated basis.
Workers’ Compensation
The county provides all employees workers’ compensation coverage with benefits in accordance with state statute, if the employee sustains an injury out of, or in the course of work.
