Purpose/Description
St. Scholastica and Duluth Public Schools are teaming up to provide virtual tutoring for K-12 students. This is an exclusive partnership that engages CSS students at the rate of $15/hr for up to 3 hours a weekday. Tutors will make times available for parents/K-12 students to sign up for general or specific tutoring in various content areas. Tutors will be required to attend and complete a short paid training (2-3 hours) before working with K-12 students.
Job Duties
- Provide online tutoring in at least one area of K-12 curriculum (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Ojibwe, Music)
- Complete training in Brightspace (2 hours paid)
- Use Setmore application to make tutoring times available for tutees to book appointments
- Conduct 50-minute tutoring sessions during the time booked by the tutee in the subject(s) of need
- Complete tutor log after each tutoring session
- Communicate with tutees/parents in a professional and ethical manor
Required Qualifications
- Must be a full-time, current CSS student
- Expertise in at least one area of the K-12 Curriculum
- Excellent communication skills with K-12 students
- Ability to build rapport with K-12 students
- Familiarity with effective online teaching/learning strategies
- Excellent time management and professionalism (be on time, communicate with all stakeholders effectively)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with K-12 students
Special Instructions to Applicants
- Must be a current full-time CSS student
- You will be required to complete a background check through Human Resources before beginning to work with K-12 students.
- Students who are working this position in combination with other CSS jobs, may exceed the 20 hour limit, but can not exceed 35 hours per week in all combination of CSS jobs.
