Job Summary/Basic Function
Selected candidates will work at assigned junior high or high schools within Ogden City school district as tutors for participants in the GEAR UP & AVID program. School placement will be determined by tutors’ class schedules and program needs.
Services tutors provide for students include modeling learning techniques to achieve academic success, providing basic college awareness mentoring, and assisting with organizational skills.
**This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time, the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Multidisciplinary subject expertise is needed; advanced math and science knowledge is helpful.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with junior high/high school students in an academic setting, and/or experience providing tutoring services
Familiarity with a wide variety of subject matters is a plus. We are seeking applicants with strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills who have a desire to assist high school students.
Applicants must be able to work up to 5 hours a week. Must have a means of transportation to assigned school(s).
