This is a great opportunity to partner with a large employer in the Louisville area, by operating the corporate fitness facility. The Norton Y @ Work facility is located Downtown, with potential for growth to other sites in the area. This facility will be an extension of the Downtown YMCA, a 3,000+ unit branch in our dynamic, mission-focused $50 million dollar association committed to aggressive growth and excellence. This position, in partnership with the entire branch leadership team, will direct efforts to increase member engagement, help members reach their health goals, support relationship building through program development and oversight for the corporate facility as part of the Downtown YMCA. This position, under the direct supervision of the Downtown Executive Director and CAO, is responsible for implementing ongoing tactics to engage new and returning members, supporting each in their health and wellness goals through innovative programs and services.

The Worksite Wellness Facility Director will be responsible for building relationships with the employer (Norton) and is to actively report on facility usage and membership numbers. This position will be required to attend the employer’s new hire orientations and talk about the opportunity to belong at the facility. This position will be part of the Downtown YMCA’s leadership team and will have responsibilities of such including but not limited to growing the branches Annual Giving Campaign. This will include donor and volunteer cultivation. Improving the health and wellness of the community we serve and relationship building with members is a high priority, as is the impact it has on member retention. Participation in the Y’s Healthier Communities Initiatives and ongoing community collaborations is key to this position. The ideal candidate must have the ability to lead a team of wellness professionals and personally connect members to the Y and each other. This individual should possess leadership skills necessary to successfully communicate and engage with co-workers, members, associates, volunteers, donors and the general public.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
  • Serves as a role model and advocate of the YMCA Mission, Promise, Values and Voice.
  • Grow current membership base from current 300 memberships to over 400 memberships.
  • Implements health and wellness strategies that support the engagement and retention of existing members.
  • Attending new hire orientation offered by the company to actively recruit new members to the wellness facility.
  • Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
  • Responsible for teaching classes and developing small group and 1 on 1 personal training.
  • Develop member incentive programs and challenges, as well as educational opportunities to encourage usage and participation at the facility.
  • Develops and directs high quality wellness programs and services and member engagement which support branch and association mission, goals and strategies.
  • Develops, manages and monitors the facility operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.
  • Takes a leadership role in the Annual Giving Campaign and ongoing volunteer and donor cultivation.
  • Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: We seek proven skills in the health and wellness field, financial development, fiscal management, program development, volunteer development and community partnerships. Candidate must be able to nurture a high-performing team of staff and volunteers focused on relationship-building and member involvement. Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate work experience in health/wellness preferred.

  • Major accredited fitness certification from reputable organization such as: ACSM, NSCA, or ACE.
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule, particularly evening and weekend hours.
  • Ability to develop and lead new member connection and education efforts such as orientations, group workouts, special events, etc.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to set the standards for and model exceptional member service and build a culture of member involvement and engagement in all staff.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work creatively and independently or as part of a team
  • Sound judgment and decision making as well as problem solving and interpersonal skills to relate to people of all socio-economic levels and diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to provide facility tours, travel locally to meetings and stand for many hours at a time.
  • Proven competencies in connecting with an economically, socially and culturally diverse membership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A strong, experienced background in group fitness classes with Trainer Level or Instructor Level certifications in multiple disciplines, with the ability to teach classes, train instructors, and this staff group.

STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt STARTING SALARY: $43,000 (Based on Experience)
